Apple has updated its iOS Sports app with several new features, including a faster way to navigate the app, support for a handful of additional soccer tournaments, and information on games that are being nationally broadcast in the US.

According to the release notes for the update, users can now quickly “swipe left or right to browse all of the leagues and teams you follow.” When on a page for a specific game, below each team’s name and record for the season you’ll now find an additional line listing broadcast information such as “Live on NHL Network,” or “Live on TNT, Max, truTV,” if there are several ways to watch it.

Apple Sports launched last year, giving fans of several different major sports leagues – including the NBA, NHL, and MLS – a one-stop solution for keeping tabs on scores, stats, upcoming games, and betting odds.

The Unseen Maestro of Casino Games.

Imagine offering an online slot experience without sound. The thrill of winning, the suspense of spinning reels, and even the impact of near misses would lose much of the player’s appeal. This underscores the essential role of audio in crafting engaging and immersive iGaming experiences that keep players returning for more.

Music isn’t just an extra layer in casino games; it’s the unseen maestro that orchestrates emotions, enhances immersion, and keeps players engaged. As the iGaming industry shifts its focus to delivering experiences rather than mere gameplay, music has become a vital element in creating memorable, emotionally resonant encounters for players.

To gain deeper insights into the pivotal role of music in casino games, Uplatform consulted with industry professionals. RubyPlay’s Art Director, Doug, shares his expertise: “Music doesn’t just have to match the game theme to work. It should elevate and enhance it.” As casino game providers increasingly recognize the power of sound, there is a noticeable evolution in how music is integrated into casino games, shaping player experiences like never before.

Crafting the Perfect Soundtrack: The Art and Science Behind Music Selection

Choosing music for casino games is no random task; it’s a blend of art, psychology, and technology. The process begins with understanding the game’s theme, visual elements, and target demographic. The right music needs to resonate with the player’s emotions while fitting seamlessly into the game’s narrative. Imagine a wild west-themed slot—without a twangy guitar riff or a whistle that recalls classic cowboy movies, the game would lose a significant part of its charm.

At RubyPlay, the approach is holistic. “You can get away with generic music and overused sound effects, but tailoring something specifically to match the art style and tone of the game is better,” explains Doug. This strategy not only creates a more cohesive experience but also adds a premium feel that sets the game apart. For example, a retro-themed game might feature 80s synthwave music to tap into nostalgia, while an adventure slot might include orchestral scores that evoke epic journeys.

The Behind-the-Scenes Process:

  • Theme Alignment: The first step involves choosing a musical style that complements the game’s visual theme and storyline.
  • Target Audience Insight: Understanding the preferences of the game’s audience helps in selecting the right tempo and genre, whether it’s jazzy tunes for a sophisticated slot or heavy metal riffs for an action-packed game.
  • Emotion Mapping: Sound designers often map out the emotional journey they want players to experience—building tension, excitement, or relaxation through music cues and dynamic changes.

Enhancing Player Immersion: How Music Shapes the Casino Experience

Music isn’t just about creating a vibe; it’s about deepening the player’s connection with the game. Consider the difference between a standard spin and a jackpot win. The background music might transition from a calming melody to a high-energy anthem, amplifying the player’s sense of victory and heightening the adrenaline rush. This shift in sound helps the player feel the game’s highs and lows on an emotional level.

“As music evolves as a cornerstone of player immersion, our goal at Uplatform is to ensure operators have access to games where sound isn’t just a background feature but an integral part of the experience,” shares Ilya Uvarov, Product Owner of Casino Aggregator at Uplatform. “The right soundtrack can transform gameplay, amplifying emotions and creating moments players want to relive. With our Casino Aggregator, we’re proud to deliver games that strike the perfect harmony between visuals and audio.”

Timing is everything. The perfect sound effect at just the right moment can transform a pivotal game event. Sound acts as a storytelling tool—whether it’s the build-up of suspenseful music before a free spin round or triumphant fanfare celebrating a big win, the soundtrack steers the player’s emotions, amplifying the impact of each experience.

The Psychology of Sound: Influencing Player Behavior with Music

Music has a profound effect on the player brains, influencing the mood, decision-making, and even the betting behavior. Upbeat music can increase dopamine production, making players feel happier and more energized, which can lead to longer play sessions. On the flip side, soothing background tracks help create a more relaxed atmosphere, encouraging players to keep spinning without feeling rushed or stressed.

The tempo of the music can help make a game feel relaxing or more energized depending on your target demographic. For example, a high-paced slot game with energetic soundtracks might inspire players to take bigger risks, while a casual game with mellow music could entice them to play longer, enjoying the journey rather than chasing immediate wins.

Finding the Perfect Harmony: Balancing Music and Sound Effects

In casino games, striking the right balance between background music and sound effects is an art form. Too much music can overwhelm the player, while too many sound effects can be distracting. The key lies in blending them seamlessly to create an engaging audio experience. Sound effects like the clinking of coins, the flutter of spinning reels, or the chiming of a bonus feature add layers of feedback that enhance player satisfaction.

A well-timed sound effect can make a crucial game event unforgettable, turning a simple win into a thrilling experience. By harmonizing background music with impactful sound effects, game designers craft an immersive audio environment that enhances player engagement while avoiding sensory overload. This delicate balance ensures that the music complements the gameplay, heightening emotions without overshadowing the player’s actions.

Sound effects like the clinking of coins, the flutter of spinning reels, or the chiming of a bonus feature add layers of feedback that enhance player satisfaction.

A well-timed sound effect can make a crucial game event unforgettable, turning a simple win into a thrilling experience. Timing is also crucially important. The right sound effect at the right time can elevate a key game event to make it feel more impactful and fun for the player, while the tempo of the music can help make a game feel relaxing or more energized depending on your target demographic and desired gameplay experience. By harmonizing background music with impactful sound effects, game designers craft an immersive audio environment that enhances player engagement while avoiding sensory overload. This delicate balance ensures that the music complements the gameplay, heightening emotions without overshadowing the player’s actions.

Tailoring the Tunes: Adapting Music for Different Demographics

Music preferences vary widely across player demographics, influenced by age, cultural background, and personal tastes. Younger players might prefer upbeat, electronic music that aligns with the fast-paced nature of modern slots, while older audiences might enjoy more classic, soothing melodies that evoke a sense of nostalgia.

Game providers customize their audio selections to fit the tastes of their target audiences. A game aimed at younger players may feature pop or hip-hop tracks, while one designed for a more mature audience might lean into jazz or classical themes. This tailored approach not only enhances player satisfaction but also increases engagement by making the game feel more personal and familiar.

Trends and Challenges in Casino Game Music: What’s Next?

The trend of incorporating popular music tracks and licensed soundtracks into casino games is on the rise, as developers aim to leverage the recognition and emotional resonance of well-loved songs. There is a surge in themed slots spotlighting iconic musicians, where the soundtrack isn’t just background noise but a central feature of the game. A prime example is Play’n Go’s “Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness,” where the eerie, rock-infused soundtrack plays a pivotal role in immersing players in the dark, theatrical atmosphere of the game, making the music an essential part of its identity.

However, integrating high-quality music into casino games isn’t without its challenges. Ensuring smooth playback across various devices, controlling file sizes, and maintaining top-tier sound quality without compromising game performance are significant obstacles. Developers often rely on advanced audio compression and adaptive sound techniques to optimize files, ensuring the music remains crisp and immersive while delivering a consistent experience across all platforms, from desktop to mobile.

Conclusion: The Sound of Success in Casino Games

Music isn’t just a background element in casino games; it’s a powerful tool that shapes the player’s experience, influences their behavior, and creates a lasting emotional connection. From the moment the game loads, the soundtrack sets the stage for what’s to come, guiding the player through highs, lows, and everything in between.

At Uplatform, our Casino Aggregator and Casino Turnkey ensure that players can enjoy games that take full advantage of this immersive potential. Featuring top providers like RubyPlay, our catalog is packed with games that seamlessly blend captivating visuals with expertly designed soundtracks, creating unforgettable gaming experiences.

As the iGaming industry continues to innovate, the role of music is only set to grow. By paying attention to audio design, game providers can craft richer, more immersive experiences that resonate deeply with players, turning a simple game session into a memorable journey. So next time you hit the spin button, remember—the soundtrack you’re listening to is playing a much bigger role than you might think.

Play’n GO, the world’s leading casino entertainment provider, has today announced it has received the Malta Gaming Authority’s ESG-C Tier 2 Seal in recognition of its efforts and reporting of ESG activities.

Earlier this year, the legendary games studio released its 2023 Sustainability Report, outlining its commitment to a sustainable future, both for the iGaming industry and the planet as a whole. The report covered everything from Play’n GO’s commitments to “Net Zero”, greener working practices, and the company’s “Culture of Belonging” in a Digital First world.

Play’n GO recently became the only iGaming business to be nominated at the 2024 Corporate Star Awards, where its Sustainability Report was recognised alongside global leaders such as SONY Entertainment and Globo.

Vanessa Arenram, CSR Director at Play’n GO, commented “We’re pleased to have our commitment to a sustainable world recognised in this way by the Malta Gaming Authority. Our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility goes far beyond mere words- it’s reflected in our actions, initiatives, and the positive impact we strive to create, both within our industry and the wider world. Our 2023 Sustainability Report received very positive feedback, both internally and externally, and we look forward to publishing the 2024 version early next year. We would like to thank the Malta Gaming Authority for this award, and pledge to continue the work for many years to come.”

Kick is updating its gambling policy as the streaming platform further clamps down on content deemed “harmful and exploitative.” When the new rules go into effect, users will only be able to stream from approved gambling sites.

In an effort to further improve safety on the platform, Kick is updating a number of policies. Revealed in a November 26 update, a handful of adjustments have already been implemented, with more coming in the new year.

Topping the bill, streamers can now customize their chat in order to avoid bot accounts clogging their streams. Now, there’s an option to only allow chatting from “viewers who’ve been registered for a select period of time.”

Though beyond that, gambling, Kick’s third biggest category behind Just Chatting and IRL streams, is also being tweaked. Starting from February 1, 2025, streamers can only broadcast gambling content from sites that require ID verification to access. This effectively puts a stop to promotion of platforms that allow for underage users to find their way in.

With many of Kick’s most prolific streamers, including the likes of xQc, often spending a good chunk of time gambling in front of younger, impressionable crowds, the change seeks to limit just what type of content can be on display.

Music and pop culture have always shared a dynamic and symbiotic relationship, influencing societal trends and shaping collective experiences.

This connection is particularly evident in major events where music enhances the spectacle and creates unforgettable moments. For instance, the Super Bowl halftime show, FIFA World Cup anthems, and Olympic Games opening ceremonies are all prime examples of how sports and music combine to create a shared cultural experience that captivates global audiences.

Historically, music has played a significant role in various entertainment sectors, including betting. The early days of gambling halls were filled with the sounds of lively tunes, setting the mood and engaging patrons. In modern times, this relationship has only deepened, with iGaming operations leveraging music to create more immersive and engaging experiences. By tapping into the emotional and communal aspects of music, iGaming operators can attract and retain players, fostering a vibrant online community.

Soundtrack of Chance: How Music Shapes the Casino Experience

Anthems and iconic songs not only amplify the excitement during major sporting events but also serve as powerful psychological triggers for bettors, often leading to significant betting spikes. Research by Griffiths and Parke on the psychology of music in offline betting environments highlights how music—whether part of the activity or the surrounding atmosphere—plays a significant role in influencing player behavior. Their study in land-based casinos shows that background music can affect betting speed, enhance mood, and even impact performance. While the music often aims to keep players relaxed and calm, allowing them to enjoy their favorite games for hours, certain casino games—especially slots—tend to use upbeat music to stimulate the production of oxytocin, dopamine, and adrenaline. This combination raises heart rates and encourages bolder decisions during play, driving the excitement of the casino experience.

In the online world, music plays an equally important role, influencing player behavior and enhancing the immersive experience of virtual casinos. Game developers working with Uplatform carefully select background music to make the environment more engaging and captivating for players. For instance, slots use music specifically designed to create memorable gameplay. Slots themed after popular music icons, such as Alice Cooper or Ozzy Osbourne, feature eerie or high-energy tunes that amplify the excitement. The goal is to make players feel connected to the themes, enriching their experience and keeping them engaged for longer periods.

How Big Championship Anthems and Iconic Songs Influence Betting Behaviors

Music plays a pivotal role in sports betting, especially during major tournaments and events. It not only heightens excitement but also acts as a psychological and emotional trigger that can influence bettors’ behavior. Sporting events often use anthems, iconic songs, or curated playlists to create a highly charged atmosphere, energizing fans and enhancing the thrill of the event. For example, the Champions League themes are not just background music; they have become symbols of the events themselves, instantly evoking excitement, nostalgia, and anticipation. These emotional cues often lead to increased betting activity, as players are driven by heightened emotions to place more bets, sometimes even impulsively.

In addition to the grandiose anthems, music in the lead-up to or during betting events can be strategically selected to maintain high energy and engagement. Some online betting sites utilize dynamic soundscapes that change in real-time, responding to key moments in the game or match. For instance, faster, high-energy music may play during high-stakes moments like a penalty shootout, encouraging bettors to make quick decisions, while celebratory music can enhance the thrill of a win.

Furthermore, research shows that faster-paced music in sports broadcasting environments can create a sense of urgency, prompting quicker decision-making, whereas slower music may keep bettors more relaxed, encouraging longer participation. By tapping into this psychological response, betting operators can guide player behavior and extend the time players spend on the site. In live betting, where real-time decisions are made as events unfold, the atmosphere often mirrors the pace and tension of the live-action, making the experience more immersive for fans. For example, during the final minutes of a close basketball game, the upbeat music played in the broadcast can add to the excitement, aligning with the tension on the court and encouraging fans to stay engaged until the end.

Examples of Music-Themed Betting Events

Music-themed betting events have proven to be a hit, adding a unique twist to the traditional iGaming experience and captivating audiences in exciting new ways. Here’s a look at some successful examples and creative ideas for integrating music into betting:

  • Music award shows like the Grammys, the MTV Video Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the Eurovision Song Contest have become prime targets for music-themed betting. Players can wager on categories such as ‘Best Album,’ ‘Best New Artist,’ or ‘Song of the Year,’ adding an extra layer of excitement to the viewing experience. Eurovision, an annual song contest between participating eligible countries, also attracts considerable betting activity, with odds often focusing on which country will win. In the lead-up to events like the Grammys or Eurovision, betting odds on potential winners and surprise nominees attract a lot of attention, engaging fans who might otherwise not place a bet.

  • Another emerging trend in music-themed betting events centers around non-traditional bets, which continue to gain traction alongside traditional sports betting. For example, bettors can now place wagers on music industry outcomes such as Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar’s special bets. Fans can bet on various aspects of their careers, from album sales to Grammy wins. Additionally, Oasis-themed bets have emerged, offering fans the chance to predict everything from potential reunions to future album releases. These options attract a diverse audience by blending music fandom with the thrill of betting.

Uplatform’s diverse sportsbook caters to these unique interests by offering bets on major music events. For instance, you can wager on who will headline the Glastonbury festival next summer or the upcoming Rock in Rio music festival in Brazil. With one of the largest lineups globally, players can even place bets on surprise guest appearances, special collaborations, and headliner performance outcomes. Exclusive collaborations with artists around album releases are also possible, where fans can bet on first-week sales, chart-topping singles, or even live event performances. These unique betting experiences not only boost fan engagement but also enhance iGaming operators’ profitability by exploring new and transformative markets.

Benefits of Cross-Promotion for Player Engagement

Cross-promotion between music and iGaming delivers various benefits, including enhanced brand loyalty, increased engagement, and expanded audience reach. By leveraging fans’ emotional connection with music, iGaming can use players’ emotional ties to music to create more engaging and impactful iGaming experiences. Operators can attract new players and build a stronger sense of loyalty among existing ones, fostering a more connected and dedicated player community.

In today’s competitive iGaming landscape, content diversification is crucial for maintaining player interest and ensuring sustained growth. As operators progress through the stages of business development—from start-up to established industry player—it’s essential to innovate and expand offerings continually. Integrating music events and artist collaborations into iGaming operations creates unique experiences that captivate audiences and keep them engaged. This approach helps prevent stagnation and keeps the content fresh, driving higher participation rates and increased excitement.

Having a knowledgeable and supportive partner like Uplatform can greatly enhance these efforts. Uplatform’s expertise in providing diverse betting options and solutions can help operators navigate the complexities of content diversification. By incorporating a broad range of features and integrating non-traditional elements such as music-themed betting and slots, operators can attract new players and retain existing ones. This strategic approach not only differentiates your sportsbook but also ensures long-term success by keeping players entertained and engaged.

Incorporating music-themed promotions or events into your iGaming marketing strategy can be a highly effective way to engage players and boost your operation’s appeal. Whether it’s offering bets on music events or integrating music into games, this approach adds a fresh and exciting element to the player experience. By harnessing the irresistible allure of music and the excitement of pop culture, you can create unforgettable experiences that keep players hooked and coming back for more. Keep the beats fresh, and the ideas rolling, and watch as your business becomes the go-to spot for fun and excitement, outshining competitors. Let the rhythm of excellence drive your success and keep your audience dancing to your tune!

GLI-19 relates to interactive gaming systems, while GLI-33 pertains to event wagering systems. The certification tests were executed by the GLI team.

Both are widely accepted to be among the gold standard certifications within the betting and iGaming industry and mark an important milestone in EveryMatrix’s 16-year history as it continues to grow and rank among the fastest growing technology providers.

All three platform products have been recognised as adhering to compliance requirements and best practices dictated by the two GLI standards. This now allows EveryMatrix to demonstrate compliance in all jurisdictions that base their regulations on the GLI-19 and GLI-33 standards.

The GLI certifications across CasinoEngine, GamMatrix and OddsMatrix also allows EveryMatrix to accelerate its technology deployment in each existing or new jurisdiction with the testing lab only needing to perform a reduced set of tests in each case.

Jake Cachia, Head of Compliance, EveryMatrix, said: “Customers across the world today look to work with providers that have software certified according to these two standards which represent the highest mark of quality and compliance in our industry.

“We are already seen as one of the most trusted partners in the market, however both GLI-19 and GLI-33 will help us build on this even more within regulated jurisdictions and we’re grateful to GLI for conducting such a thorough and efficient process.”

Chris Davies, Vice President of Sales, GLI Europe, said: “It has been a privilege for GLI to support the EveryMatrix Team in going live in North America and LatAm markets based on GLI standards. It has, and it continues to be, a true collaboration, engaging with such an innovative team. We are excited to see the significant progress they make and wish them and everyone a successful G2E.”

Sports AI and technology giant Stats Perform has secured another set of exclusive rights to distribute live video streams to licensed international sportsbooks outside the UK, this time for the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) and Scottish Women’s Premier League(SWPL).

The long-term agreement is the latest significant boost for customers of Stats Perform’s award-winning Bet LiveStreams video service, following the addition of English Football League (EFL) competitions in August 2024 and ICC International Cricket in June 2024, and multiple new AI-powered features to enhance the user experience.

This SPFL and SWPL live streaming partnership includes the men’s William Hill Premiership and the Scottish Power Women’s Premier League, plus key games from the William Hill Championship, William Hill League One, Premier Sports League Cup, SPFL Trust Trophy and the SWPL’s Sky Sports Cup.

Neil Doncaster, Group Chief Executive of the SPFL, said: “We always seek the most reliable, trustworthy partners for Scottish football, who can deliver the highest quality experiences for our fans. Stats Perform’s team and technologies are trusted by top sports federations globally, as well as billions of fans. Their experience as pioneers of live sports streaming for licensed sportsbooks means our fans also tap into a wealth of innovation in that world. We’re excited to start working together.

The SWPL’s Managing Director, Fiona McIntyre, added: “The SWPL was established in 2022, as part of the SPFL group, with a view to professionalising elite women’s football in Scotland and growing revenues for the benefit of SWPL clubs. This new partnership represents an innovative step and another milestone for the SWPL, as it is the first partnership of its kind in respect of women’s football in Scotland. We are delighted to be working with Stats Perform.”

Andrew Ashenden, Chief Betting Officer at Stats Perform said: “We’re delighted to add elite Scottish men’s and women’s football to our Bet LiveStreams service. The SPFL group, with SPFL and SWPL competitions, brings another heavyweight set of well-timed, high-octane football betting rights into our package. Its teams, players and historic rivalries are very popular with global fans. Football remains the world’s most followed sport and the SPFL and SWPL games sit perfectly alongside our top calibre competitions from England, Spain, Italy and many more sides, making our AI-enriched service critical to any licensed sportsbook globally that has football fans as customers.”

A new fully EveryMatrix-funded project aimed at helping veterans of the war in Ukraine transition to develop new careers in technology has launched in Lviv.

The NGO, entitled ‘Academy for Heroes’, is spearheaded by EveryMatrix and was inspired by its 300+ employees, based in Lviv in Ukraine, some of whom are fighting in the war.

There are hundreds of thousands of combatants in Ukraine, a number that is rising every day. Following their return from war, sometimes with serious injuries, many need social adaptation and work that can provide a more certain future.

The Academy will organise courses designed by leading experts in the IT industry, enabling former military personnel to gain the knowledge and skills needed for successful IT careers.

Beyond its primary goal of equipping veterans with IT skills, it also aims to help them successfully integrate into today’s labour market. EveryMatrix and several other local IT companies will be involved in the employment of veterans after they have completed courses.

Ebbe Groes, Group CEO and Co-Founder, EveryMatrix, said: “Our Lviv office is central to our continued success and growth. Ever since the country has experienced conflict we have supported our friends and colleagues, as well as charities, with much needed funds committing more than €2 million to date, and we will continue to help them.

“Now, we’re taking that one step further by setting up our second company NGO to ensure veterans receive the training and skills they need to return to work and develop successful careers in technology.

“The IT industry is one of the strongest parts of the Ukrainian economy, renowned worldwide for technical skills. I hope many will either join us or go on to join other IT companies, giving them hope and a more certain future for themselves and their families.”

Professor Oleksiy Druhov, CEO, Academy for Heroes, said: “This is the only continuously operating project of its kind in Ukraine for military veterans. Our goal is to teach four groups of veterans every year.

Each group will have its own specialisation such as Project Management, Quality Assurance and Full stack to name just a few areas. We carefully monitor the Ukrainian IT market and only train the specialisms required.

“All participants will undergo internships at EveryMatrix and other leading Ukrainian IT companies during their studies and they will have the best teachers from the IT Industry. We are also planning to open a specialised, inclusive-friendly training centre at the end of 2024.”

This is the second fully funded NGO that EveryMatrix has initiated. In 2015 the iGaming technology provider established TeachStream supplying much needed funds and resources to disadvantaged children in Romania who might otherwise never have the opportunity to develop IT, computer science, mathematics and English skills.
