The Netherlands Gambling Authority (Ksa) has for the first time imposed a fine of €734,000 on one of its licensees because the company failed to adequately protect young adults against excessive gambling and gambling addiction.

Gambling companies have a duty of care and must protect players as much as possible against excessive gambling and gambling addiction. According to the Ksa, the provider in question has not sufficiently complied with this duty of care and will be fined for this.

The Ksa launched an investigation after receiving signals about large losses suffered by young adults. In this investigation, a selection of 10 of the player files with the largest losses was examined at the provider, with violations being found in all files. These involved young adult players (18 to 23 years old) who gambled away tens of thousands of euros in often a relatively short period of time.

Michel Groothuizen, chairman of the board of the Ksa: ‘We have a licensed gambling market based on the idea that anyone who wants to gamble can do so safely. That is why providers have a duty of care towards their players and must respond adequately to excessive gambling.

Large losses are an important signal of this. We have intensified our supervision of the online duty of care and we take tough action against violations such as those we find here, because we really do not want to see providers continue to fail in their duty of care, especially for vulnerable young players.’

Normally, the Ksa also publishes the name of the license holder, because this warns consumers about the behavior of the provider and because it shows how important the duty of care is. We are not doing this in this message, because the party in question has requested an interim injunction from the court to prevent publication.

The judge has ruled that the question of whether the fine was rightly imposed is too complicated to answer now. Until the Ksa has answered that question in the objection, the name of the provider may not actually be mentioned, as far as the judge is concerned. If it turns out at a later point in the legal procedure that this information may be made public, the Ksa will immediately mention the name of the party.

The ACMA has requested that Australian internet service providers (ISPs) block more illegal online gambling sites, after investigations found these services to be operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The latest sites blocked include:,Megabet Prize, Mega Medusa, TF2Royal, Casino Intense.

Website blocking is one of a range of enforcement options to protect Australians against illegal online gambling. Since the ACMA made its first blocking request in November 2019, 1,210 illegal gambling and affiliate websites have been blocked.

Around 220 illegal services have also pulled out of the Australian market since the ACMA started enforcing new illegal online gambling rules in 2017.

The ACMA is reminding consumers that even if a service looks legitimate, it’s unlikely to have important customer protections. This means Australians who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money. You can check if a wagering service is licensed to operate in Australia on our register.

Sandro Tonali is being investigated again as part of an investigation into suspected illegal betting in Italy. The investigation involves a total of 12 players, it was announced on Friday.

The former Newcastle Premier League star served a ten-month ban in October 2023 for betting on matches, including for his then-team, AC Milan.

But prosecutors in Italy have opened investigations into 12 current and former Serie A players in a new case of illegal betting.

The investigations include former Manchester United player Angel Di Maria, now at Benfica, and Fiorentina’s Nicolo Fagioli, who like Tonali has already served a suspension for illegal betting.

Juventus’ Weston McKennie and Mattia Perin, Roma’s Leandro Paredes, Atalanta’s Raoul Bellanova and Torino’s Samuele Ricci are also being investigated.

ANSA reported that all 12 players are being investigated for poker games and betting on sporting events on banned gambling platforms. It is not about football matches.

Prosecutors suspect that Tonali and Fagioli were financially rewarded for recruiting other players on clandestine platforms.

On Friday, the Milan prosecutor’s office placed five people under house arrest for “illegal gambling activities and money laundering.”

The Netherlands Gambling Authority (Ksa) has imposed a fine of €1,200,000 on Techno Offshore Limited for illegally offering games of chance via the websites nolimitbet.com and simplecasino.com. Offering online games of chance without a license for the Dutch market is prohibited.

Insufficient measures were taken on these websites to keep Dutch players out. There was also no visible age check upon registration and options such as autoplay and turboplay were available. These types of game options encourage excessive gambling behavior.

Michel Groothuizen: ‘Licensed providers in the Netherlands must adhere to all kinds of rules to protect players from gambling addiction. With illegal providers, we often see that no account is taken of the prevention of risky gambling behavior, for example by not using age checks, enabling payments with crypto or a lack of playing limits. We take tough action against these types of parties, because they attract players to illegal offers and players are insufficiently protected there.’

The Gambling Control Division of the Montana Department of Justice has sent Kalshi a notice to stop offering its sports event contracts to residents.

Sports bettors in Montana can only place wagers when physically present at an authorized retailer. All in-person and mobile bets need to be placed inside one of the retailers to be legal.

The Sports Bet Montana app and website also adhere to betting’s physical limitations; you can only use Sports Bet Montana in an authorized retailer.

Because Montana law permits gambling and sports betting at any establishment with a liquor license, sports bettors can bet at countless kiosks in bars and restaurants. There are roughly 1,400 locations that could be approved to offer sports betting in the state. Bets are capped at $250 for kiosks and $1,000 when online.

The Dutch Gaming Authority (Ksa) has intensified its supervision of illegal gambling apps. Since the start of 2025, 20 apps have been removed from the app stores. The regulator calls on consumers to always report suspicious apps.

In the fight against illegal gambling, the Ksa is also focusing on tackling illegal gambling offers in app stores. This problem is becoming increasingly urgent, especially with the increasing number of apps that refer users to illegal websites. These websites are often also accessible to minors, which makes the situation even more worrying. Many of these apps are advertised via social media.
Illegal providers often use underhand techniques to convince consumers, for example by showing logos of licensed providers.

An app was recently reported in the App Store that misused the Holland Casino logo. It is also often advertised with a ‘normal’ game (in many cases a variant of ‘plinko’), but after downloading it is linked to illegal gambling websites.

In the past three months, the Ksa has had 20 of these apps removed, so that they are no longer available to users. It is very important to the Ksa that consumers continue to report these apps, so that this process can continue throughout the year. When reporting gambling advertising, it is essential that the name of the app in question that is being advertised is mentioned in the report.

In addition to reports from consumers, the Ksa is also increasingly receiving reports from industry associations and licensed casinos. For example, via Meld Vals Spel, a platform set up by the industry for reporting illegal gambling sites. Reports that come in via that platform are also investigated by the Ksa. The Ksa has working agreements with app stores to report illegal apps to them and then have them removed.

Example:While playing the game ‘Candy Crush’ you see an advertisement promoting gambling. In this advertisement you see a game called ‘Plinko’ where it seems as if you can win a lot of money. The advertisement ends with a button such as ‘Play now’. To report the app, it is important that you press this button, so that you are redirected to the Appstore or Playstore and see the name of the app in question. You can report this app to us via the report form (refers to another website).

Illinois gaming regulators have ordered  Kalshi to stop offering prediction markets on sport betting, saying the contracts amount to unauthorized sports betting under state law.

The Division has accessed the mobile application and website, located at www.kalshi.com, and it has determined that your company, Kalshi Inc. d/b/a KalshiEX LLC and/or Kalshi , is listing unauthorized sports wagers for individuals located within the State of Illinois.

Kalshi and Robinhood were handed orders in New Jersey after taking trades on March Madness. The emerging world of sports predictions is facing pushback in the US. A failure to company with the notices may result in the commission “pursuing all legal remedies and actions” against the company.

Blocking illegal websites will help to reduce the number of people with gambling problems, says Silje Sægrov Amble at the Norwegian Gambling Authority.

To protect Norwegian players, the authority has decided that websites with illegal gambling should be DNS blocked.

In short, DNS blocking means that you will be taken to a website from your internet service provider, rather than the gambling site you were trying to reach.

Now the first round of blocking begins. The Norwegian Gambling Authority has carried out an inspection, and 57 websites have been blocked. 23 companies are behind the sites.

Blocking illegal websites will help to reduce the number of people with gambling problems. These are the games that have the highest risk. They are designed to get you hooked, and you can lose a lot of money in a short time, says Silje Sægrov Amble, a lawyer at the Norwegian Gambling Authority.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) today confirms that German tennis player Mina Hodzic has been suspended for three months for a breach of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP).

Hodzic was previously warned by the ITIA about receiving coaching from Jordi Marse-Vidri, a former tennis player serving a 15-year TACP suspension due to end in 2035.

However, in October 2024, Hodzic participated in a practice session with Marse-Vidri at a covered event in Barcelona, Spain, in breach of Section D.1.r (prohibited association) of the TACP.

Hodzic received a three-month suspension, effective 6 March 2025, and a suspended fine of $1,000, which was not appealed by the player to an independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer.

During the period of ineligibility, which ends on 5 June 2025, Hodzic is prohibited from playing in, coaching at, or attending any tennis event authorised or sanctioned by the members of the ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, Fédération Française de Tennis, Wimbledon and USTA) or any national association.

The ITIA is an independent body established by its tennis members to promote, encourage, enhance, and safeguard the integrity of their professional tennis events.

The Dutch Gaming Authority (Ksa) has addressed gambling provider Noord Zuid Alliantie B.V. about the inaccessibility of the customer service. Anyone who called the customer service was told an English-language recording that no one was available.

Information on the website about addiction prevention, for example, was also offered in English. In addition, there was discussion about signals about the implementation of the duty of care. Noord Zuid Alliantie B.V. offers online games of chance with the website Lucky 7 Casino.

Companies with a Ksa license must always have a Dutch-language customer service available for questions from players. This is important because players, certainly in the context of the duty of care, must always be able to contact the provider in Dutch with questions or concerns about their gaming behavior. The website must also be available in Dutch.

The provider has resolved the problems with accessibility and language after discussions with the Ksa.
The Ksa also received reports about playing after self-exclusion and a pop-up that called for additional deposits.

The Ksa takes these signals seriously. The possibility of self-exclusion is an important tool in preventing gambling addiction. These problems have also been solved. The Ksa continues to monitor developments at Lucky 7 Casino and can take enforcement action in the event of any new violations.
